Everything you need to know about the configuration and visualisation of HELLA exterior shading products.

First steps

Everything you need to know before your first configuration session

VISION PLANNER is a free web application that you can use to configure high-performance HELLA exterior shading products, including slat roofs and parasols, in photorealistic 3D. Adapt dimensions, fabrics, frame colors and features, and see a true-to-life view of your configuration on your very own terrace with augmented reality.

No. VISION PLANNER runs entirely in the browser - no app installation required. Just open the website on a smartphone, tablet or computer and start configuring.

The 3D configurator runs on desktop, tablet and smartphone in all modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and is fully optimized for touch and mobile screens. For the AR preview, use Safari on iPhone/iPad or Chrome on Android.

For 3D configuration: any modern browser on a desktop or mobile device. For AR: iPhone or iPad with iOS 12 or higher (Safari) or an Android device with Android 8 or higher and ARCore support (Chrome). On desktop we recommend the current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari (no more than about two years old).

Tips about designing, adapting and sharing your products

Yes. The configurator includes a location-accurate sun simulation. Open the “Adjust sun position” tool in the toolbar and set your location, date and time of day to see how sunlight and shadows fall on your shading product - so you can find the perfect configuration for your terrace orientation.

You can adjust length, width, depth and height with millimetre-level accuracy, depending on the product concerned. Make your choice from HELLA's library of fabrics, specify frame colors, add textile or glass side elements, configure LED lighting and set slat angles for slat roofs –everything is rendered in real-time 3D.

Image compositing is based on the vanishing point properties of your background photo. First, upload a photo of your surroundings, then mark two pairs of lines that converge into the image (for example, at two building edges), and the system automatically calculates the perspective and scaling ratio. Next, you move, rotate and scale the product until it fits perfectly into the photo. Finally, you can use the brush to paint over areas that should be hidden behind the product – creating a convincingly realistic composite image.

Yes. You can share your configuration using a QR code or a direct link. Recipients will be able to view the full 3D model and, if they have a compatible mobile device, explore it in augmented reality without having to create an account.

Just open your smartphone's normal camera app – the one you take photos with – and point it at the QR code, as if you were taking a picture of it. A link appears automatically. Tap on it start the AR experience directly in your browser. No separate QR scanner app is required.

AR and devices

Troubleshooting augmented reality on your device

AR requires Safari on iOS (iPhone or iPad with iOS 12 or higher) or Chrome on Android (with ARCore support). Be sure to allow camera access if your browser requests it. If the AR preview still does not work, update your browser and operating system to the latest version. No separate app is required – the AR experience will start directly in your browser.

This is a known issue with the graphics driver on the Google Pixel 10, which can become unstable under heavy 3D (WebGL) workloads – it affects other 3D websites too and is not caused by our app. If you see a blank scene or a “graphics context lost” message, please restart your browser; until then, 3D content may fail across your whole browser. In the meantime, we recommend testing on a different Android device (e.g. Samsung). We have reported this issue to Google.
